About AISINDO & the Symposium Series

AISINDO — Yayasan Asosiasi Sistem Informasi Indonesia — is the Indonesian Chapter of the Association for Information Systems (AIS). Founded to advance information systems scholarship and practice across the archipelago, AISINDO convenes researchers, educators, doctoral students, and practitioners working at the intersection of IS, accounting, and digital transformation in emerging-economy contexts.

Mission

AISINDO's mission is to foster a regionally grounded, internationally connected IS research community. We pursue this through three programmatic threads:

Relationship to the AIS Global Community

AISINDO is the official Indonesia Chapter of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), the global professional society of IS academics established in 1994. Through this affiliation, Indonesian IS scholarship is connected to the worldwide AIS chapter network and to AIS-affiliated conferences (ICIS, ECIS, AMCIS, PACIS) and journals (MIS Quarterly, ISR, JAIS, JMIS, CAIS, JIT, EJIS).

Held under the auspices of AISINDO. The AISINDO Symposium is the flagship scholarly event of the chapter, held annually since 2018 at rotating Indonesian host universities.

Research Themes Across the Series

Across six editions, recurring themes have shaped AISINDO's intellectual agenda:

Publication Venues

AISINDO Symposium proceedings have been published, alternately, in CEUR Workshop Proceedings (CEUR-WS.org, ISSN 1613-0073) as open-access volumes, and through special-issue arrangements with regional IS journals including the Indonesian Journal of Information Systems and Pacific Asia Journal of the Association for Information Systems. The 2023 volume is published in CEUR-WS under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence.

Membership & Governance

AISINDO is structured as a yayasan (foundation) under Indonesian law, with an Executive Board elected every three years from the membership. Institutional members include leading Indonesian universities with active IS programmes, currently including Universitas Indonesia, ITB, UGM, ITS, BINUS, Universitas Padjadjaran, Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas Udayana, and Universitas Brawijaya. Individual membership is open to faculty, doctoral students, and practitioners with active research or professional interests in information systems.

Get involved. AISINDO welcomes new institutional and individual members, paper-development chairs, doctoral-consortium mentors, and reviewers. Expressions of interest can be sent to the secretariat for forwarding to the Executive Board.

2024 — Looking Ahead

The 7th AISINDO Symposium is provisionally scheduled for November 2024 in Bandung, returning to West Java a decade after the second edition. The 2024 host institution and theme will be announced at the closing session of the 2023 symposium on Thursday, 16 November.
